I can't believe the number of people who fall for the crap about "socialized medicine." Many of the messages I've seen lately could have been written at the height of the Red Menace. Didn't anyone else study
propaganda techniques in high school? The buzzwords that are being flung around look like something out of the bad old days of Phyllis Schafly and her bisexual bathrooms. I actually saw someone raise the spectre of Whittaker Chambers and Alger Hiss today. Unbelievable.
It's also funny (or it would be, if it weren't so sad) how many people don't have any understanding that the United States of America did not exist till the Constitution was ratified in 1789.
Maybe we should have an Independence from Ignorance Day.
We had a nice, low-key get-together yesterday with good friends. Much relatively-bad-for-you-but-nevertheless-y
ummy food was consumed. And better than anything else, we got the house cleaned up and dealt with a lot of stuff that both of us had left lying around for ages. We should entertain more often. This place would be a lot tidier. :)
I have the plots for three novels in my head. Why can't I get them from there to the outside world?
I'm going to try reading into the laptop next time I have the house to myself, to see if I can finally get my podcats underway. The sound card in my main computer is not compatible with my microphone. As a corollary, I'm thinking of using some of the money I inherited from my mom to buy the materials to build a new computer. I'd need a new motherboard, CPU, memory, sound and video cards. Time to do some research. I think it'd amuse my mother no end to put the money to that purpose, too.
The weather has been quite pleasant here this summer so far. It just makes me think that the weather gods are gearing up to incinerate us in September.
One good thing about having hot dogs for a cookout is that we can then have hot dogs for lunch for a week afterwards. And with that I think it's lunchtime.
