30th-Dec-2008 08:00 pm - a cup of coffee
Mythbusters
it's eight o'clock on a Tuesday. I'm sitting on my couch with a cup of coffee , Haüs on the TV, some laundry in the wash, and swaddled up in one of the sweatshirts I got for Christmas. I just thought while I watched TV, I could bang out a journal entry. I'm not going to go into anything deep, b/c I just don't feel like it, so NYAH!

I got a great surprise in the mail yesterday. I turned the photo my "fan" Carmen had taken for me:

and converted it to cards for JerseyCam!

I got them from a company called OvernightPrints. They came out great except that they didn't make Carmen's Flickr address bright enough. So I am going to goto my favorite stamp store, and get a stamp made so I can stamp the backs so people know where to go to see awesome photos. It's nice to have cards for the site, as I really don't have an advertising budget. Hell, I don't have a budget at all. When I re-order more cards, I will make sure to make the link brighter. Unless Carmen come sup with another design before then.

So tomorrow is New Year's Eve. For the first time, I will be venturing into NY for the celebration. I don't yet have everything fleshed out, but I'm close. I think I'll take the train, so I can drink more ;)

What else, what else. Ash Lee is getting better. She was limping very badly last week, so I brought her to the vets, as I didn't know what to do. I made the appointment and when I went to bring her in the night before, she was limping on another leg as well. I brought her in the next morning, and for some reason, they didn't have a record of my appointment. So I had to wait an hour for the next available slot. We finally got in, and Ash was a real good sport. They took X-Rays, but they showed nothing. I think she got into a scuffle with the new cat that started living in my neighbor Bob's garage. So the vet gave her antibiotics and also an anti-inflammatory. She doesn't like being inside, so all she does it meow at me when I let her out of the mud room bathroom. I hope she'll be all better soon.

Christmas was good, but draining. I seriously didn't get into the Christmas spirit like I have in previous years. I mostly seemed to have been coasting along. I am hoping next year will be better. This year was just a mad blur of running around and never seeming to catch up. My sleep has gone all wonky as well. It was really bad Sunday night. I had the dream again. It's the one I hate having b/c as soon as I wake up and roll over, I know it was a dream. Since it happened during my recent depression, I am hoping it's just result of it, and not my brain trying to get me happy, b/c it hurts more than it helps.

OK, on that note, I am hitting the sack, b/c I am über tired. Nighters all.
22nd-Dec-2006 10:18 pm - Christmas Wrapping
Mythbusters
This is my favorite Christmas song ever. It's called Christmas Wrapping, and it's by a band called The Waitresses. It came out in 1981, but in case you haven't heard it or know what it is, the link to the song has lyrics, and there is a link at the top of that page to listen to the song. If you don't want to do all that, you can hear it Here. If you don't know the song, check it out before you read further.

It's funny how sometimes you see or hear something so many times, but you never "get it" until much later. My Physics teacher told us one day that it happened to him when hearing a formula one day. It happened to me watching "Airplane". The main character has a "drinking problem", and after watching the movie for like 10 years, I finally got the joke. Christmas Wrapping is the same way. For many years, I thought the final verse was about the main character meeting up with Santa. A few years ago though, I realized that it was about her meeting up with the guy she was trying to meet up with the whole year. The song made a lot more sense then, but it kinda made sense the way I had thought of it before then too. In both cases, it was the guy she meets who restores her belief in the "miracles" associated with Christmas.

I think I'm taking this year off myself though. It's just been so rough this past few months. I just wanna be at home, by myself, and let the world just kinda pass by me. I don't want to be somewhere putting a false smile on my face, trying to pretend that where I am is where I want to be. It's not fair to bring my doom and gloom to other people's joyous occasions. There's really no presents to unwrap or wrap for that matter. My Father and Mother are upset that I want to be alone, but I just do. I just wanna sit with the kids, and finish some stuff I've been putting off way too long. I spread as much holiday cheer as I could. And I kinda hoped that maybe I could coast through the season on the fumes of good times I had going for me, but much like my radiator, I seem to have sprung a leak. So I think I'm just gonna park here, and wait awhile before I go get a re-fill. But until then, I'm just gonna watch everyone go by on their way.

Mythbusters
And has it ever. I have just been so busy lately what with work and the farm and my "real" life. What to say, what to say.

Well, over Christmas break, I had the beautiful and pleasant company of my lovely GF, Kari. It was an early and a GREAT x-mas present. The holidays were a mad whirl of traveling and running around and receiving, but more importantly, giving. Kari can't understand why I enjoy giving presents than receiving them. I am such a pain when it comes to opening presents. I'd just rather watch people open theirs. I take my dear sweet time. Kari didn't get much from me this year, as I am taking her somewhere special soon and that's where that money is going. I got some other gifts from her, including my new accessory of life, a 1 gig IPod Shuffle. Say what you will about your IPod, my IPod rocks. I finally have a soundtrack to life. I also discovered Podcasts. Especially Harry Potter podcasts. Another thing I have become a fan of is Wikipedia. I mostly listen to three podcasts. They are MuggleCast, PotterCast, and Distorted View. Distorted View is pretty interesting to say the least. It's very crude, and involves this guy, Tim Henson, reading weird news stories in addition to interviews and weird soundbites. They can all be found in the iTunes store under the podcast section, and cost nothing to subscribe to. iTunes can be set up to download them automatically, and when you synch up, they upload. When you listen to them, they get marked as listened to, and depending on your settings, will automatically be replaced by new episodes. The only problem was that my pod was scratching things in my pocket. So after many moons of checking online and searching the stores, I found a Shuffle Case case that was on sale and in a good color. I would have preferred black, but I got blue instead.

OK, enough about my Ipod and links to Wiki. The holiday season wasn't all fun. Kari and I got sick and were semi-miserable during the evening hours. Between her cough and my blowing my nose, we didn't rest much. It also cut into our romantic time. But while we weren't sick, it was pretty good. Especially the night I came home early and surprised her, and....... Ok, don't wanna get to lurid. I also finally had the bump on my head removed after about 20 years. It was quick and easy to get removed. Well, easy. While in the clinic waiting for the Dr., some lady decided to seize and all the people scrambled to help, so I was left in a little room to wait and worry.

Also during the break, we received a visit from Al. It went pretty well with him. Unfortunately, Kari decided my dog, Huck, was the canine equivalent of Hannibal Lecter, and I had to muzzle him when the two were together. Huck is a forgiving dog, so he was cool with it. While he was with us, Al ate almost every meal and we only had a problem with him his last day there. Luckily, Kari has a cool head, and was able to handle any crisis that came up.

OK, it amazes me how if I had written down an entry for every day, it would have taken like a hundred pages, yet this almost month in review will probably only take up a small amount of page-width. I must get back to work now. Talk to you all later.
