| today was a busy day. It started with waking up with my new love(s), my pillows. I was feeling good, so I drug myself outta bed, went downstairs, and got some coffee made. After that, I went outside, watered up, fed, and then started building my fire. I dug out a little in the center of the pit, and placed a can inside, to catch any metal that melted. For a base, I put a big box full of paper waste(old mail, cut up cardboard boxes, and other assorted paper) down, and placed some kindling near one side. On top of the box, I put some logs I split, and also put them around the box. It turned out to be a one match fire. It was a hot one also. The cans I threw in pretty much melted right off the bat, and the horseshoes I tossed in needed a few moments before they too melted. I also got some cool flames with this fire. I had some nice blue flames, as well as some green ones. I don't know what caused them, but I'd be interested to find out. While the fire was burning, I took care of some things 'round the farm that needed doing. I cleaned out Huck's dog house, drilled some drainage holes so it woulnd't retain water, re-attached a flap that came off, and added in some fresh hay and cedar chips. I also went a got a newer fridge. Before that, I took the Christmas tree from the porch, and put it in the basement for storage. I actually came up with a cool idea/tradition for future holidays, but I need to do some research. In essence, I want to plant a series of Christmas trees somewhere on the farm, and then use them as they reach maturity. So it would be a step-ladder like deal. Depending on when they reach maturity, when I cut one down, I replace it with a new tree. I'm guessing that it will take around 5-6 years, so I'm gonna have to start this year planting. But I will save money in the long run, I can do a cool tree cutting tradition, and then have a nice fire right after Little Christmas. After that, I added some more wood onto the fire, then went and filled the barn up with hay. After that, I watered again, fed, and came back inside for a nice relaxing shower, which I topped off with a nice bowl of soup. I'm too tired to clean, so I decided to take in some TV, and write a nice blog entry on my XO. Cynder is trying to get some attention by bringing her mouse to me, then picking it up, walking around the corner and up the stairs, and bringing it back to me. She is seriously so damn cute. Smart too, as she will play fetch, and meanwhile, her brother, the anti-freeze kitten, is lucky he can breathe and walk at the same time. I seriously think if I ever do get mice in my house again, that Cynder will bring them to me. If the dummy doesn't eat it first. My outside terrors seem to have captured and eaten a pigeon, which I am proud of. They seem to have developed a real hunting instinct, which is pretty much the reason I have them. The companionship helps too. Dizzy is a nice buddy when she helps me feed and water purring on my shoulder and kneading me while relaxing in my hood.
Well, that is about all I have the strength for right now. I still have to get my weekly pills set up, as well as stock the fridge for the week ahead. I need to do some shopping this week, which I might do tomorrow if the rain continues. I am low on yogurt, which is quite the emergency. Also, I watched an episode of Good Eats Friday night, and Alton did tomato sauce, which got me into the mood to make a new batch. Since London Broil is on sale, braciole seems like a great addition. OK, prep time, then bedtime. Nighters all. |
